351Days ShezPhoto #15 Power Tower

Bonneville Power Line Towers

This was taken in summer of 2011 when we took our grandson Hans up the Columbia River Gorge to Bonneville Dam. I wanted to recreate a photos I had taken many years ago. I got a fabulous photo of a red and white tower against a clear blue sky.

It was pre-digital age and it was also in a time when we could walk dead center under the tower. It was a time before terrorism had caused chain link fences with barbed wire be placed around the power line towers close to the dam. It was a  symmetrical  photo, clear colors, and exciting to the eye.

This photo day was grey, cloudy and there was a fence around the big towers by the dam . The red had faded and rust was evident. Further away from the dam I saw this tower. It is not as large as the ones at the dam and it is not symmetrical. I could stand under it but could not get centered under it because of a huge blackberry bush directly in the middle. But as I shot the photo a crow flew into view. He landed and was joined by a second crow. The shots of the two of them in the tower were not as good over all.  Heavy clouds often make for a better photo, this photo has some charm of its own, it misses the clarity and bright clear colors of the original print from the past.
