283Days #83 Snow Enrobed Plum Blossoms

Plum Blossoms with Snow and Water Drops

March 22, 2012 was quite the day of extremes. After snowing all night when the temperature was not down to freezing, we still woke up to some amazingly beautiful transformations to our world. Just as the blossoms had begun to pop out, suddenly they were encased with snow.

I got up early and at first light was outside with my camera. So many beautiful sights in every direction I had a hard time restraining myself to only  150, in the morning. I added photos on the drive to work and some amazing extremes on the way home after most of the snow had melted. I will simply offer a small sample of the extremes of the day.

First Photo in low light is primarily only black and white.

Twisted Trunks of the Japanese Maple dusted with snow.

A block from home the sight of everything wearing their soft monochromatic colors was lovely.

An enchanting street scene.

On the way home we ran a little errand and a mile north I was surprised to see not a trace of snow was left here.

In the morning when we left, the little daffodils were weighted down with thes now and had fallen over into the mud. What a nice surprise when we arrived home, the little miniature daffodils had pulled themselves up from the muddy water and were doing their best to stand tall. Evidence of the mud is still on them. They might be little but they are tough and mighty.

And now it is 11:45 or in some parts of the world it would be 23h45. And in parts of the world it is tomorrow morning. But as it is late on March 23, 2012 here in our part of  the world I will post these photos from yesterday.  I hope you enjoy them. Such contrasts for a mere 24 hours.

Today also held contrasts heavy fog and cold in the morning and a glorious sun and in the mid 50’s this afternoon. We even ate lunch outside on our deck. We watched the chickadees flitting in and out of the Japanese Maple and down to the bird feeder.

Wishing all of you a wonderful new day.
