279Days #87 Cherry Blossoms

Beautiful Gnarled Cherry Tree Branches

This enchanting cherry tree shows off its gorgeous form against the pale wall of this building. Today with the buds blooming I had a chance to stop for a few photos. It was raining and the sky was dark but waiting for better weather could change to blossoms into bruised and browned flowers. My eye was drawn to the beauty and it totally overlooked one huge obstacle. Unfortunately, the camera saw the enormous red For Lease billboard in front of the tree.

A branch spans across the wall to show off its reflection in the window.

So instead of being able to capture the whole thing, I bring you bits of it all. I loved the way this branch stood out from the whole and was beautifully reflected in the window.

Garlands on the Trunk

One thing about getting in close was the surprise of seeing so many blossoms growing from the trunk. Beautiful garlands adorned like a scene from a story book with the moss adding texture and color to the dark bark.

A big bouquet in palest pink.

One of the many clusters. So pretty and about nine inches in diameter, but only two inches high. Part of the amazing garland.

Until tomorrow brings new sights…

They are wonderful. The tree is just amazing and I didn’t know that the blossoms would grow like that on the trunk……I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.

Thank you, Dee.Wish you could see them in person. I have never seen the trunk garlanded like that either. It’s not uncommon for a stray little sprout with a couple of flowers, but a nearly complete covering is quite a sight.
