267Days #99 Easter Sunday 2012

The Steeple and the Cross

This small church with the simple cross is one I have passed many times. On Friday when we happened by the simple cross and the little church came to life in the low sun and the fabulous sky. I felt that all the elements were there for a great photo. It sits on a very steep street and getting in the right position to capture the three repeating cones of the steeple the tree and the building roof took a bit of doing. What you can’t see here is a giant telephone pole that from most view points is between the tower and the tree.

The lighting and the dark shadows added to the magical quality of this scene. Perhaps I should have played around with contrasts in Photoshop and allowed the beauty of the stonework to come to life, but I quite liked the subdued stone work allowing the steeple to command the glory of this scene.

The cross is held so high above everything, a symbol of Christ rising from the cross and ascending into heaven. A fitting photo for a holy day.

For those of you who are not Christians I present a beautiful tribute to spring and wish all, whatever your beliefs, a wonderful day filled with peace and beauty.

A Bright and Beautiful Tribute to Spring!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I do welcome your comments, drop in and say “hi.”
