189Days #177 Yellow Hydrant with Character

An old peeling yellow fire hydrant with touches of blue spray paint.

This old yellow hydrant shows the patina of many years of the elements causing the paint to peel revealing older shades from many different layers of older paint.

This hydrant shows years of patina through many layers of peeling paint. It still works, not ready to draw its pension yet. It stands short, sturdy and ready to be called into service. It’s a proud little sentry.

The dandelions growing around the base also add a bit to the neglected look. Maybe a sunny day someone will come with some paint remover and add a new coat of paint, not just add layers to already failing paint.

Than again, maybe not. It’s still functional. It’s still yellow, even if it is many shades of gold, ochre and cheerful yellow.

We had grey skies and a bit of drizzle today. As long as our summer thinks it’s still early spring, I think a sunny yellow hydrant helps to brighten the day.

Have a sunny or at least a happy Tuesday.
