Burst Into Spring

After so many storms of snow and ice, it was surprising to see that it hardly slowed down the popping buds. I am sharing a few taken over the three weeks following the ice.  These ended up in no particular order. The duck is the male that wintered over with his mate. During the snow […]

Winter Lace

Each year as we pass through the seasons certain plants take on amazing transformations. One such plant that never fails to delight me with its detail is Queen Anne’s a Lace. These two photos were taken in March of last year as the plants ready their seeds for the final act to sow them for […]

Good Morning

This was the very beginning of a day that was to become one of those glorious blue sky fall days. It started with the first rays of the morning out shining the still needed street lights. Taken October 7, 2013, Sherwood Oregon USA. Cheers, Shez PS To my wonderful followers; if you wonder what happened […]

2/52 Nature’s Many Faces

The early morning sun just caught the edge of a flock of Canada Geese waking up from their night (top). On the other side of the road, the scene was in the shadows. The sun  peeking through glinted off the frozen ice of a small pond and the next two photos could almost be black […]

The First Weekly Post 1/52

This little guy is just too cute not to share. Sitting among the bright ornaments on this silly outdoor tree (it looks great a night) his colors are accented by the colors on the tree. His fuchsia head feathers gleam in the sunlight. It is chilly, so he’s puffed out his body feathers and only a pinch […]

0Days #366 Happy New Year!!

This one slept while her older brother bounced off the ceiling. This year she is struggling to stay awake until midnight. I think she’ll make it, but she is struggling. What a difference a year makes. They grow up so quickly. It been a very good year in many respects, the important one, which is […]

1Day #365 Ducks

Outside the kitchen window this morning, I saw a pair of mallard ducks and a pair of green wing teal. The teal hang around for a month or two before heading off to their breeding grounds. The pair of mallard are here year round. In the spring they fight to run off the other ducks. […]

44Days 322 Cabin in The Woods

The cabin in the birch trees was like a step back in time. Just east of Whitefish, Montana, USA

This was a  beautiful area and seeing the old cabin set my mind to wondering how old it was and who built it. Was a ski cabin or a homestead? Did a family live here? For how long? Why? What story is hidden in these walls?

As you may have guessed, I’m a bit inquisitive. With no historian handy I guess I get to fill in my own details.

Cheers to imagination,

Shez

45Days #321 Montana Sunrise

As the warmth of the sun begins to clear the dark clouds, this second picture still looks more like a sunset than a sunrise, to me. But it is a lovely sight with the flat mocha plains and the touch of blue morning sky on the horizon. In the foreground you can just make out […]

51Days 315 Thanksgiving Dinner Prep

Wednesday evening was prep work for Thanksgiving dinner the next day. It was a small crowd this year with only a total of 16 family members coming. My Wednesday evening helper was my grandson Hayden. We had much to do. We started with making some yeast bread sticks and while that was rising, we peeled […]
