184Days #182 Yellow Bugatti

A completely restored 1930s vintage Bugatti, yellow and black

Yellow and black Bugatti vintage 1930s value millions.

This gorgeous vehicle was not really to my personal liking. However, the craftsmanship was over the top. No detail was imperfect. Each piece from a nut to a bolt to a small screw was polished and crafted into a thing of beauty. It was part of a touring automobile show where every vehicle was valued at well over a million dollars. The interior was authentic ostrich leather. It looked incredibly soft, but of course we could not touch it on anything on the car.

It has unique bumpers which left a calligraphic shadow on the floor. The were six tail pipes in a row coming out of the back of the car on the driver side. Each was of a different length that reminded me of a pan pipe. I wondered if it created a musical sound when the car was running.

Tomorrow, July 1st will be my final post in this week’s series of YELLOW. It will also mark the half way point of posting a photo a day. I know some people have commented that the photo was also supposed to be taken on the day it is posted, but I do have to admit that working up to 58 hours a week at times, having an illness, spending much-needed time with family prohibits me being able to process photos on a daily basis. It is not unusual for me to take hundreds of shots in a single day and it is rare that I do not take several photos every day. Unfortunately, processing usually is reviewing a huge number and then choosing six to eight photos which I process at one time.

A challenging commitment  does become a new habit. Some time ago a temporary life style change made me decided to write every day, not just “someday.” Within a month I had developed the habit of daily writing. It is nearly four years later and I have not missed a day. So it is all good.

Now that I have confessed that these photos are not each taken on the day they are posted, I hope you are enjoying some of my work. To all of you who have found me and take the time to follow and comment, I thank you.

The above photo taken July 02, 2011.  😉 A one time opportunity in a 30 minute time frame, I walked away with dozens of shots. I’ve kept them all, not because each photo is perfect but because each photo is priceless.

Cheers,

Shez

202Days #164 Slug Bug

I promised you the pictures from my puzzle. This was on display at DIA aka Denver International Airport. There is a story that goes with it… …unfortunately it was all written in Spanish and my Spanish is terrible. What I did gather was it was a commemorative piece to bring attention to a 1840 war? […]

220Days #146 Primary Colors

This post is all thanks to Nick Mayo who started taking photos of groupings of primary colors. I started looking around and discovered them everywhere. I ruled out taking photos of signs, have the fast food places have signs and even buildings in that bright color scheme. But once I started looking it was amazing […]

265Days #101 The Car The Fans

Fans Oblivious to the Photographers

This was a photo taken at the Art Museum Auto Show. Perhaps the oldest car on display, it was huge. In order to get all of it in a shot it required standing a distance away. I discovered that leaving so much space this area became a hall way. Few stopped to look at the car, but the parade passing through couldn’t be avoided.

Now looking back at the photo the people could almost be ghosts of drivers from the past. If only they were dressed in period attire it would totally work. So maybe I passed through the time space vortex and was taking a photo of the new car when people of the future passed by.

Do we really know?

Cheers,

Shez

PS My phone knows. It time/date stamps everything. Sadly, it really was a blurry image of our present day lack of personal dignity or pride and our total acceptance of our laid back wash and wear casual society. We might not look good, but we sure are comfortable.

276Days #90 One Quarter Complete

One quarter of a fabulous classic car.

Today marks one-quarter of the way through my one (at least one) photo a day WordPress challenge. What could be more fitting than to share this photo of  one-fourth of an amazing, gorgeous, outrageously expensive (think SEVEN figures not counting the coins part) original car. Everything about is perfect. It is simply delicious and it was a privilege just to be able to take photos.

I love cars. I have always loved cars, especially Italian sports cars or English racing cars. But my passion to drive them fast, really fast has finally mellowed to the speed limit and has been replaced by the love of photographing them.

IF I win the mega bucks lottery, I might just consider having one similar to this one. However, it would need to be daily driver. Not a priceless beauty that never sees the road. Pretty sure I won’t win the lottery, I think you actually have to buy a ticket.

Here’s a toast to all of us who have made it through one-quarter of a year of with a photo post every day, even when it is hard to do. And wishes for many more amazing photos.

Cheers,

Shez

282Days #84 Cow Girl Boots

Cow Girl Boots in every color!

At the outdoor show a few weeks ago we came across huge tables of neatly lined up cow girl boots in a riot of colors. I hunted for my size, not because I need any and I don’t have any riding excursions on the calendar. I’m also not joining the rodeo. So why would I want this pair of gorgeous turquoise boots? Or the turquoise and tan ones?

Well those are really good questions. I have no rational reason. I just wanted them in case I ever get the ranch and the horse. Most of the boots were one of a kind and of the ones I loved not one was in my size.  So the horse and the boots go back in my Closet of Impractical Dreams. That’s where I keep my ’35 Mercedes Kompressor, my 2011 dark Burgundy Maserati Sedan and my  orange Lambo.

Cheers to day dreams,

Shez

287Days #79 Concept Car

The rest of the car.

Earlier in the 366Day challenge, (check it out on 305Days #61) I posted the air intake grill on an Italian concept from the 30’s. I mentioned I love that photo but the overall lines of the car itself I did not like. I wanted to share this photo. I was actually surprised when looking through my photos that I had taken several shots of this car. However considering the great number of shots I took of some of the others I could tell I definitely had two favorites, a Pierce Arrow and a 1937 Mercedes.

One of the things that made this shoot difficult was trying to get a shot without people. It was generally impossible, also there was no avoiding big signs in the background and misplaced furniture which spoiled many shots. I decided to experiment. I turned  four people and two signs into the flames or smoke in the background. It was a fun project. I will be sharing more as I hone my flames skills.

Although it appears that I messed up the front of the car with the flaming, I was able to not touch or alter any part of the vehicle. I told you, in my opinion this car did not have great style. Many very interesting details, but overall a dud, an exquisitely crafted dud, unique but not hot.

Until tomorrow, good shooting.

Cheers,

Shez

292Days #74 ’90 Ford Bronco

I was asked to take photos of everything before they started stripping it all down. Not because of any reason except for them to have reference to what goes where. In this photo it is not the two big hoses they are concerned about where they go, check out the small cables, hoses and wires. […]
